Smaller rosette medallions with the value 5 occupy the corners and intermediate spaces, creating a dense, symmetrical security underprint. An oval central stamp inscribed INSPECCION DE BANCOS / PROVINCIA DE CÓRDOBA is applied over the central guilloche. |

The Banco Provincial de Córdoba was a provincially chartered institution operating under the fragmented Argentine banking framework of the early 1870s, when individual provinces still retained the right to issue their own currency. That arrangement ended definitively with the national banking reforms later in the decade, which rendered notes like this one irredeemable at face value and largely pulled from circulation in short order.
PS#726 is among the scarcer provincial Argentine issues — Córdoba's banking paper from this period survives in far smaller quantities than contemporary Buenos Aires emissions.
