备注

The Banco de San Juan was one of several provincial Argentine banks chartered in the early 1870s under national legislation that briefly allowed provinces to issue their own paper currency. San Juan's banking history was precarious — the province was economically marginal, heavily dependent on mining and viticulture, and the branch structure reflected an attempt to extend paper money credibility into a region where coin remained the preferred medium.

PS#1868 places this within the specialized South American provincial issues catalogued by Pick — a category where surviving examples are genuinely rare, since most provincial Argentine banks collapsed or were absorbed following the 1890 Baring Crisis and subsequent monetary consolidation under the Banco Nacional.

Cotton substrate was typical for Argentine provincial issues of the period, sourced largely from imported stock.
