| Obverse description | The obverse features the current Mexican national arms in the center: an eagle displayed in left profile, perched upon a cactus rising from a rocky island in a lake, devouring a serpent grasped in its beak and talons. The central device is surrounded by a wreath of oak and laurel branches. Arranged in a ring around the central coat of arms are ten smaller renditions of historical Mexican national arms, depicting the evolution of the eagle motif through different eras of Mexican coinage and heraldry. The curved legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs between the upper portion of the central arms and the surrounding historical emblems. |
