The Organisation of Central American States — known by its Spanish acronym ODECA — was a regional body founded in 1951 with genuine ambitions toward political and economic integration. This 1971 silver issue was struck as part of a short-lived series of commemorative coinage intended to reinforce that integrationist identity, though ODECA never achieved the monetary union that would have given such pieces practical circulation. The coins were largely distributed as presentation pieces rather than used as currency in any member state.
The X# prefix in Krause indicates non-circulating or fantasy issue status — struck outside the authority of any single national mint and never legal tender in the conventional sense.
