| 裏面の説明 | A portrait of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara dominates the reverse field, rendered in the iconic style of Alberto Korda's celebrated photograph 'Guerrillero Heroico'. The legend GUERRILLERO HEROICO arcs along the upper and right periphery. Guevara's facsimile signature appears to the right of the portrait, while the mint mark is placed to the left. The commemorative dates 1928 and 1967, marking his birth and death years, appear in the lower field separated by a bullet point, with 'che' inscribed in lowercase. |

Che Guevara was killed in Bolivia on October 9, 1967, on the direct orders of the Bolivian government following pressure from the CIA, whose operative Félix Rodríguez was present at the execution. Cuba has issued commemoratives marking his death at intervals since, but the 40th anniversary series in 2007 was notably extensive, with multiple denominations and compositions released simultaneously — a pattern Banco Central de Cuba had by then perfected into a reliable hard-currency export product, sold almost entirely to foreign collectors rather than circulated domestically.
