5 Pesos

This issue replaced the aluminium bronze 5 peso coin that had circulated since 1994, part of a broader Argentine mint retooling driven by chronic metal cost inflation and repeated shortages of circulating coinage through the 2010s. The switch to nickel-plated steel brought production costs down substantially at a time when the peso itself was losing value fast enough that the face value of the old coin's metal content was becoming a practical concern.
