| Opmerkingen |
The Tesorería de la Provincia de Buenos Aires began issuing these provincial notes during the 2001–2002 Argentine financial crisis, when the federal government froze bank deposits under the so-called "corralito" and then the broader "corralón." Provinces, unable to meet payroll and social obligations in pesos, issued their own quasi-currencies — Buenos Aires Province issued the Patacón series, of which this is a later-dated survivor.
Patacones were legal for tax payments to the provincial government and briefly accepted at major supermarket chains, giving them de facto daily-use status despite having no federal backing. By 2006, most had been redeemed and withdrawn; a note dated that year suggests either a late redemption tranche or a reissue for accounting clearance rather than fresh circulation.
