Additional information

These coins belong to the last gasp of the peso argentino, the currency Argentina introduced in 1983 by lopping four zeros off the collapsing peso. The surgery bought almost nothing — by 1985, inflation was running above 600% annually, and the government replaced the peso argentino with the austral, cutting three more zeros in June of that year. Coins of this denomination were functionally worthless long before they stopped being minted.
