正面描述 The allegorical figure of 'Chilena', depicted as a female angel rendered in high relief, stands with both arms raised and outstretched, her wrists bearing broken shackles symbolising liberation from the Marxist government of President Salvador Allende. The design commemorates the date of the military coup of 11 September 1973, which is inscribed in the field. The legend 'REPUBLICA DE CHILE' arcs along the upper periphery, while 'LIBERTAD' appears in the lower field, and the Santiago Mint mark 'So' is also present.

附加信息

Chile's 1976 coinage reform followed the Pinochet government's broader economic restructuring under the "Chicago Boys," a group of economists trained at the University of Chicago who dismantled the previous socialist monetary framework and introduced a new currency series to signal fiscal stability. The 5 Pesos entered circulation as part of that overhaul, replacing denominations eroded by the inflation that had plagued the Allende years.

KM#209 is a short-lived type, discontinued after 1980 when ongoing inflation again made the denomination impractical.
