| 背面描述 | The large numeral '5' dominates the left and central field, rendered in bold relief. To the right, a stylized depiction of a pampas deer (venado de campo) is shown in dynamic, modernist low relief, with its characteristic antlers and flowing form filling the upper right of the field. The denomination legend PESOS is inscribed in the lower field beneath the numeral, completing the design. |

Uruguay's late 1960s were dominated by spiraling inflation and the growing insurgency of the Tupamaros, a urban guerrilla movement that would push the country toward military intervention within a few years. The 5 Peso denomination had been a meaningful sum not long before this date; by 1969 it was already being eroded into near-irrelevance by inflation rates that would eventually force a currency redenomination in 1975, when 1,000 old pesos became a single new Nuevo Peso.
