Obverse description The left portion carries a vignette of the Rizal Monument in Manila, rendered in fine intaglio engraving against a dark green guilloche underprint. A large numeral '5' within an oval wreath medallion occupies the centre, with the denomination legend 'FIVE PESOS' below and corner numerals '5' in all four quadrants.
