| Obverse description | The obverse is laid out with a bold guilloche border composed of repeating 'CINCO 5' inscriptions along all edges. The bank title 'BANCO HIPOTECARIO DE LA PROVINCIA DE BUENOS AIRES' is printed in large letterpress type across the upper portion, flanked on either side by large numeral '5' counters. A central text block carries a handwritten-style promise-to-pay clause in Spanish, above the denomination panel 'CINCO PESOS' printed in a decorative banner, with the notation 'MONEDA NACIONAL DE CURSO LEGAL' and place and date 'LA PLATA, JULIO DE 1891' below.
