| Anmerkungen |
Banco de Escobar Ossy y Ca. was one of the short-lived provincial banks operating in Colombia during the free banking period of the 1880s, before the government moved to centralize currency issuance and eventually abolished private bank note emission in the early 1900s. The American Bank Note Company handled the printing for a remarkably wide range of these Colombian provincial issues — their New York facilities were the default choice for any institution wanting engraved intaglio work that local printers simply couldn't match.
Very little documentation survives on the Escobar Ossy bank itself, which suggests a limited operational lifespan. Notes from this issuer appear infrequently at auction.
