Obverse description The obverse is printed in black and features a central vignette of a rural agricultural scene with horses, cattle, and farm workers in an oval frame, flanked by two smaller vignettes: at left, a seated female figure, and at right, a wading bird (heron or egret) in a marshy setting. The large numeral '5' appears at the upper left and upper right corners, with the bank title 'BANCO DE MELIPILLA' printed in bold letterpress across the top, and the denomination 'CINCO PESOS' below the central vignette. Two coupon-style panels are attached at the left with duplicated serial number fields and the notation 'SPECIMEN' perforated and overprinted in red across the face.
