Opmerkingen

Banco de Cipaquirá was one of Colombia's short-lived private banks chartered under the 1880 banking law, which briefly opened the door to regional note-issuing institutions before the government reversed course. The bank operated out of Cipaquirá — a salt-mining town north of Bogotá whose economic weight exceeded its size — and its notes circulated primarily within that narrow commercial orbit.

Lit. D. Paredes was a Bogotá lithographer responsible for printing several provincial bank issues of this period, working at a technical remove from the European security printers used by wealthier institutions. The result is a note whose printing quality reflects local means.
