Obverse description Brown note with an elaborate guilloche border of repeating numeral '5' medallions enclosing the entire design. Two circular vignettes, each containing a portrait of a dog's head in profile, are placed symmetrically at left and right of centre. The large denomination inscription 'CINCO PESOS' appears in bold letterpress between the vignettes, with the issuing authority legend in script above and the date line 'moneda corriente. Abril, 1.° de 1867.' and the directorate attribution below. A serial number appears at the top centre, flanked by numeral '5' counters.
