| Описание реверса | A standing female allegory of Liberty faces three-quarters left, draped in classical robes, resting her left hand upon a stone tablet inscribed CONSTITUCION and holding a staff or sceptre in her right hand. At her feet to the right lies a fasces and a cornucopia overflowing with fruit, symbolizing law and abundance. The circular legend IGUALDAD ANTE LA LEI is distributed around the upper and lateral periphery, separated by a star at lower left. The denomination 5 Ps appears in the exergue below the figure. |

Chile's mid-century gold coinage was struck under a monetary framework inherited from the Spanish colonial decimal reforms, but the 1854 date marks a reorganization of the national coinage law that formally standardized weights and finenesses for domestic gold issues. The Casa de Moneda in Santiago — one of the oldest continuously operating mints in the Americas, having functioned since 1743 — was the sole producer throughout this run.
Chilean gold of this period circulated alongside a flood of Californian and Australian gold that was depressing bullion values globally. The 1867 end date roughly coincides with legislative pressure to reconsider gold coinage economics entirely.
