Obverse description The Chilean national arms are displayed at center, comprising a quartered shield bearing a five-pointed star, supported on the left by a standing huemul and on the right by a condor with spread wings, both wearing crowns. Above the shield is a plumed crest of three ostrich feathers. Decorative scrollwork and laurel branches frame the base of the composition. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE runs along the upper periphery, with the mint mark So to the right and the date 1865 at the bottom of the field, flanked by dots.
