Opmerkingen

Corrientes was one of the few Argentine provinces that maintained its own paper money system well into the national period, resisting absorption into the Buenos Aires-dominated monetary framework. This 5 Pesos note dates from the early 1850s, a turbulent stretch during which Corrientes had recently sided against Rosas in the civil conflicts that ended at Caseros in February 1852 — the same year this note was issued.

Provincial notes of this type were printed under extremely limited technical conditions, and the PS prefix in the Pick numbering reflects their classification as a speculative or quasi-governmental emission rather than a formal central bank issue. Survivor population is thin.
