Comments

Salt is a small municipality just outside Girona, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns, its local council issued emergency paper money during the Civil War when coinage effectively vanished from circulation. The Consell Municipal de Salt's 5 Pesetas note is catalogued by Turró, the standard reference for this material, under #2271.

These municipal emissions were produced under crisis conditions, often locally printed with minimal security features. Surviving examples from small issuers like Salt are genuinely scarce — the print runs were tiny, most notes were used hard, and few were preserved once normal currency returned.
