| Reverse description | The quartered coat of arms of the Provisional Government of Spain occupies the centre of the field, displaying the traditional castles of Castile and lions of León in the upper quarters, with the stripes of Aragon and the pomegranate of Granada in the lower quarters. The shield is surmounted by a mural crown and flanked by the Pillars of Hercules, each entwined with a banner bearing the motto PLUS ULTRA.
