Reverse description The Spanish state coat of arms as used under the Franco regime occupies the central field, flanked by the Pillars of Hercules and supported by the Imperial Eagle of Saint John, with the quartered shield displaying the castles of Castile, lions of León, chains of Navarre, and bars of Aragon. A six-pointed star positioned to the lower left of the shield contains the two-digit mint year, indicating the actual year of issue. The denomination 5 PTAS appears prominently at the top of the coin, while the Francoist motto UNA GRANDE LIBRE and the Latin device PLUS ULTRA are distributed around the arms. The reverse was engraved by Teodoro Miciano Becerra.
