Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Alfonso XII facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair and naturalistic portrait style characteristic of the Restoration period. The legend arcs around the periphery, reading ALFONSO XII POR LA G. DE DIOS, with the mint year 1879 inscribed at the base of the portrait between two small decorative stars.
