| Obverse description | Central field features a plain circular boss or plug where the customary center hole would appear, flanked on either side by two sprays of stylized fern or pine fronds radiating outward symmetrically. A heraldic rose blossom is positioned above the central boss. The date is divided across the lower portion of the field, with '19' to the left and '41' to the right of the frond stems, which are joined at the base by an ornamental knot or tie. The overall design is deeply struck with a rustic, utilitarian aesthetic characteristic of Finnish wartime coinage. |

| Reverse description | The numeral '5' is prominently displayed in the upper central field in bold relief. Below it, a plain circular boss occupies the center of the coin, corresponding to the filled hole on the obverse. Two heraldic roses in high relief flank the central boss to the left and right. The curved legend 'PENNIÄ' arcs along the lower rim in incuse or raised Latin lettering. The composition is clean and balanced, consistent with Finnish coinage design of the early 1940s. |
