Beschrijving keerzijde Right-facing helmeted bust of Britannia, her winged Corinthian helmet adorned with floral emblems of the United Kingdom — a Tudor rose, Scottish thistle, and shamrock — set against radiating sun-rays that fan outward from behind the figure. The bust is rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing hair and draped shoulders, with the engraver's initials DL visible at the lower right. The peripheral legend BRITANNIA 1/40oz FINE SILVER 999 arcs around the upper field, while the date 2018 appears in the lower exergue. The design was executed by David Lawrence and is characteristic of the Royal Mint's modern Britannia bullion coinage series.

Aanvullende informatie

This diminutive piece belongs to the Royal Mint's "Britannia" small-denomination bullion series, which reintroduced silver fractional coinage in sizes not seen in British circulation since the pre-decimal maundy issues. At 8 mm, it is among the smallest silver coins produced by the Royal Mint in the modern era — handling one without losing it is a genuine practical challenge. The 5th portrait of Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark, had only been introduced in 2015, making this one of the earlier bullion strikes to carry it.
