| Additional information |
The Isle of Man has long maintained its own coinage independent of UK Treasury control, a right rooted in its status as a Crown Dependency outside the United Kingdom proper. When the Royal Mint updated Elizabeth II's effigy to Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait in 1998, the Isle of Man's own issuing authority, Pobjoy Mint, adopted the new likeness for its circulating coinage on its own schedule — hence the slightly staggered rollout relative to mainland British issues.
The two Schön reference numbers reflect minor but catalogued differences between the annual issues within this run.
