The surrounding circular legend in Latin reads: ROBERTVS * A * BERGIS * EPS * LEODI, identifying Robert de Berghes as Bishop of Liège. The coin was struck by the hammered method, giving the type characteristic irregular flan edges typical of mid-sixteenth-century Low Countries coinage. |
