| 裏面の説明 | The large numeral '5' dominates the center of the field, serving as the primary denomination indicator. Above the numeral, the word 'ПАРА' is inscribed in Cyrillic script, while 'PARA' appears in Latin script below the numeral. The mint year '1996' is positioned at the base of the design beneath 'PARA'. A continuous border of raised beads runs along the inner rim, framing the entire composition. |

Yugoslavia's mid-1990s coinage exists in the wreckage of one of the worst hyperinflationary episodes in recorded history. The January 1994 redenomination — which lopped off ten zeros from the dinar — stabilized the currency enough to resume normal small-denomination production, and this reduced-size restrike of the 5 para type is a direct consequence of that reform. The smaller planchet cut metal costs as the rump Federal Republic struggled to maintain any functioning monetary infrastructure amid ongoing sanctions and the dissolution of the broader Yugoslav federation.
