Obverse description Central field occupied by the elaborate tughra of Sultan Mahmud II, rendered in the traditional Ottoman calligraphic style with interlocking loops, vertical strokes, and sweeping horizontal extensions. The tughra is enclosed within a decorative border of stylised floral and foliate scrollwork, forming a continuous wreath that frames the entire central device. The design is executed in low relief with the characteristic Ottoman aesthetic of this period, the floral border elements extending nearly to the coin's rim.
