Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra (imperial monogram) of Sultan Abdulhamid I, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style with interlaced loops and sweeping diagonal strokes. The tughra occupies the majority of the flan and is executed in raised relief against a flat field. The coin is enclosed within a plain inner circle surrounded by a beaded border along the outer rim. The strike is typical of hammered provincial Ottoman coinage, resulting in a slightly irregular flan.
