| Obverse description | The obverse features the Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, depicted in relief at centre, with the Devanagari legend 'Satyamev Jayate' (Truth Alone Triumphs) inscribed below the pedestal. The bilingual inscription 'BHARAT' in Devanagari and 'INDIA' in Latin script appears in the upper field, flanking the emblem. The design is rendered in a clean, modernist style consistent with the Republic of India coinage series. This type (KM#23a) is distinguished from the earlier KM#23 by its reduced weight of 1.03 g, compared to 1.52 g for the predecessor issue. |
