Pattern coins from the Pakistan Mint rarely surface in Western collections, and this aluminium trial was never approved for general circulation — the 5 paisa denomination was ultimately discontinued rather than reissued in a lighter alloy. By 1990, rampant inflation had rendered the paisa nearly worthless in practical commerce, making the economics of continued production difficult to justify regardless of metal choice.
