Obverse description Central device features a trishula (trident) rising from a stylised representation of the Himalayan mountain range, flanked by a sun to the upper left and a crescent moon to the upper right. The Devanagari legend arcing along the lower portion of the field reads the country name, the Bikram Sambat regnal year, and the royal title and name of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. The overall design reflects the traditional Nepalese royal iconography combining sacred Hindu symbols with the natural landscape.
