Obverse description	Central design features the national emblem of Mauritania, comprising a crescent and star above a palm tree flanked by stylised vegetation, all set within a circular field. The date is divided on either side of the emblem reading '20' and '05'. Below the emblem, the denomination numeral '5' appears prominently in the lower central field, with the legend 'OUGUIYA' beneath it. The circular legend 'BANQUE CENTRALE DE MAURITANIE' runs along the entire periphery of the coin.

The Hijri date '١٤٢٦' (1426) is inscribed along the lower periphery. The circular legend 'البنك المركزي الموريتاني' (The Central Bank of Mauritania) runs along the outer border of the coin.
