In 1952, the Swedish mint was actively evaluating a shift in the 5 öre's physical specifications — this bronze pattern is a surviving artifact of that internal testing process. The production type ultimately adopted retained different parameters, making Kungliga Myntet's trial pieces from this period scarce outside institutional collections.
