| Obverse description | The obverse features the crowned royal cipher of King Christian IX of Denmark, composed of the interlaced monogram 'C IX' in large incuse letters occupying the central field. Above the monogram sits a detailed royal crown surmounted by a cross, rendered in fine relief.
