The outer legend reads in Chinese across the top and sides: 喀什 (Kashgar) and 五錢 (Five Qian), with Arabic script inscription below reading بش مثقال كاشنو ضوب ١٣٢٩ (Five Mithqal, Kashgar Mint, AH 1329), encircling the beaded border.
