Obverse description Central field features four Chinese ideograms arranged in a cruciform pattern reading top to bottom and right to left, with a decorative floral motif at centre. Additional Chinese characters appear in the upper and lower registers, denoting the reign title Guangxu and the denomination Yuanbao (original currency) of five qian. Arabic legends flank the design on either side, identifying the Kashgar Mint and denomination of five mithqal. The AH date 1323 appears in Arabic numerals, with its position varying by subtype. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border.
