| Obverse description | Central field features four Chinese ideograms arranged in a cruciform pattern reading top to bottom and right to left, with a decorative floral motif at centre. Additional Chinese characters appear in the upper and lower registers, denoting the reign title Guangxu and the denomination Yuanbao (original currency) of five qian. Arabic legends flank the design on either side, identifying the Kashgar Mint and denomination of five mithqal. The AH date 1323 appears in Arabic numerals, with its position varying by subtype. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border. |

| Reverse description | A sinuous five-clawed imperial dragon is depicted in high relief, coiling dynamically across the field with its tail curving to the left. The dragon faces forward with an imposing frontal visage, surrounded by stylized clouds and flames. A flaming pearl appears at the centre of the composition, around which the dragon wraps. Fine scale detailing covers the body, and wave motifs appear at the base of the design. The whole is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a plain outer rim. |
