Trial pieces for the 1960 Tunisian millimes series were produced as the Banque Centrale de Tunisie worked through design and metallurgical approvals following independence in 1956. Striking a 5 millimes denomination in silver was never the production intent — the circulating issue used aluminum — making this a pattern struck purely for official review, not commerce.
Very few were made, and fewer still left the approval process through official channels.
