Aanvullende informatie

Libya's 1965 coinage was produced under King Idris I, whose government had signed the landmark oil concession agreements just years earlier following the 1959 Zelten discovery — the first major commercial oil strike in the country. The shift from a subsistence economy to a petroleum state was still unsettling the currency regime when these were struck.

Idris would be deposed by Gaddafi's coup in September 1969, making the entire Idris-era coinage series relatively short-lived in circulation.
