Obverse description Printed in blue and yellow using a combination of intaglio (calcography) and lithography, the obverse is centred on an oval portrait vignette of Admiral Francisco Manuel Barroso da Silva (1804–1882) positioned to the right, with the Arabic numeral '5' flanking the design to the left. The field carries multi-line text detailing the issuing authority, denomination, and the authorizing decree of 14 July 1932. A manuscript conference signature of the responsible official appears below the main text block.

Reverse description Printed in brown and ochre by lithography, the reverse presents a plain, text-centred composition with the three-line inscription 'BONUS DO THESOURO / DO ESTADO DE S. PAULO / PRÓ CONSTITUIÇÃO' occupying the central field. The Arabic numeral '5' appears as a counter at both the left and right margins, serving as the sole decorative elements on an otherwise unadorned ground.
