| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of the People's Republic of Mozambique occupies the central field, depicting a Kalashnikov rifle and a hoe crossed over an open book, set against a rising sun with radiating rays, all superimposed on a map of Mozambique above stylised waves. The arms are encircled by a wreath composed of a sugarcane stalk to the left and a maize ear to the right, surmounted by a five-pointed star.
