备注

Finland's first banknote series issued under the authority of Suomen Pankki as a fully autonomous institution — though the country itself remained a Grand Duchy under Russian imperial rule in 1897. The markka had been legally separated from the Russian ruble in 1865, and this note is part of the infrastructure that enforced that monetary distinction in practice.

Pick #1 designation suggests this was among the earliest catalog entries for Finnish paper money, and surviving examples in any condition are genuinely scarce. The 1890s low-denomination notes circulated hard.
