Obverse description Printed in green and black, the obverse carries Swedish text along the upper margin and Finnish text in the lower centre, framing the central composition. A Czarist imperial double-headed eagle vignette occupies the left field, with a large bold numeral 5 to the right. Two manuscript signatures appear in the bottom centre, accompanied by the series year in the lower margin.
Obverse lettering Tätä setelistä maksaa Suomen Pankki vaadittaissa Viisi Markkaa Suomen rahaa.
(Translation: For this banknote, Bank of Finland will pay on demand Five Marks in silver.)
Reverse description The denomination in Finnish appears in large lettering across the upper portion of the note, above a central numeral 5. Russian text occupies the lower centre field. Three horizontal text panels running across the bottom of the note carry the anti-forgery warning in Finnish, Swedish, and Russian respectively, referencing the Imperial decree of 13 April 1874.
