Reverse description The reverse presents a detailed panoramic view of the Gothic Marienkirche (Church of St. Mary) in Mühlhausen, Thuringia, rendered in fine relief against a lightly brushed field. The church's soaring central spire, elaborate buttresses, and nave roofline are faithfully depicted alongside surrounding historic townscape buildings and fortification walls. The inscription MARIEN-KIRCHE appears in upright Roman capitals in the upper field to the right of the spire, while the city name Mühlhausen is inscribed below the architectural vignette in Fraktur blackletter script. The mint engraver's initial R is discreetly placed at the lower rim beneath the cityscape.
