| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of Ludwig II, King of Bavaria, facing right, with finely detailed wavy hair and a short beard and moustache, rendered in high relief. The truncation of the neck is clean and unadorned. The peripheral legend curves around the upper field, with the mint mark 'D' appearing at the bottom of the coin below the bust. A continuous beaded border frames the entire design. |
