Prisoner of war camp currency, issued at Lager Minden during the First World War to prevent German Reichsmark from circulating among or escaping with POWs. The Kassenverwaltung — literally the cash administration — of each camp operated largely autonomously, which is why Minden scrip differs in design and format from notes issued at Hammerstein, Soltau, or Parchim, even within the same year.
The 5 Mark denomination was the highest commonly issued at Minden, usable only within the camp's canteen system. Redeemability outside the wire was zero by design.
