Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Friedrich I, Grand Duke of Baden, portrayed in high relief with a full beard and naturalistic detail. The truncation of the neck is cleanly cut, and the mint mark 'G' appears at the bottom of the field below the portrait. The encircling legend reads FRIEDRICH GROSHERZOG VON BADEN, separated from the beaded border by a narrow flat rim. The engraving style is characteristic of late 19th-century German imperial portraiture, with strong facial modeling and fine hair detail.
