| Reverse description | A detailed relief depicts the bombed-out ruins of the Frauenkirche in Dresden as they appeared after the Allied air raids of February 13, 1945. The shattered towers and collapsed masonry of the baroque church are rendered with striking realism, with rubble massed across the lower field. To the right, a partially standing columned structure survives amid the destruction. The commemorative date '1945' and the inscription '13. FEBRUAR' appear in the upper field, with the city name 'DRESDEN' inscribed prominently at the base and the die-cutter's initial 'R' below. |
